A Dinka Ngok delegation has been set up to convince the United States government and the African Union to recognize the result of the referendum conducted in on October last years.

Justice Deng Biong Majak is leading the team comprised of intellectuals and elders from the Abyei region.

In the referendum, the Dinka Ngok voted to join South Sudan but the result was not recognized by both the Juba and Khartoum governments.

Justice Deng told Eye Radio that recognizing the referendum will enable Abyei citizens to focus on development.

“The situations of our people is not good,” said Justice Biong.

Many US-based humanitarian organizations are engaged in various relief activities there.

“That’s why we urge them not to stop their support and they should increase it because even when we get the last solution for Abyei issue, the people of Abyei will still need their services.”

Three weeks ago, the Sudan’s National Elections Commission included Abyei as a constituency in Southern Kordofan State in preparation for the elections in 2015.
