The Minister of Health in Western Bahr el Ghazal State says the state has received medical supplies from the national ministry to strengthen health facilities in the state.

In a statement to the media yesterday, Minister Dr Francis Michael Hassan said the medicines were delivered with support from UNICEF and other partners under the Health Sector Transformation Project.

The Minister said the medicines will be distributed to the three counties across the state starting next week.

According to the national Ministry of Health, the medical supplies are part of the Health Sector Transformation Project, a World Bank-funded initiative led by the ministry aiming to improve healthcare access and nutrition services for 14.2 million people.

The ministry said the medical supplies have already been delivered to Lakes State, Warrap State, the Pibor Administrative Area, and Unity State.

It added that consignments for Abyei Administrative Area, Northern Bahr el Ghazal (Aweil), and Ruweng Administrative Area are expected to arrive within the course of this week.
