Situation in Abyei is now calm, after clashes erupted over killing of four people on Sunday, the spokesperson of the SPLM in the region has said.
Around 50 armed people including Misseriya militias and Sudanese army personnel attacked Lou Village.
The killing of four people including a ten year old boy led to fear and chaos.
“This armed assault has killed four civilian in the village, and I think this attack is systematic and they controlling it and the purpose of it for displacement of Dinka Ngok in northern part of Abyei,” Wor Majak told Eye radio.
Many people who fled to nearby villages have now returned.
Mr. Majak explained such incidents are common during the dry season.
“It’s repeated always; in the dry season, it’s started like this incident.”
He said the same group of people have looted number of 150 heads of cattle two weeks ago.
