The Acting Commissioner of Mundri West County says the conditions of over 24,000 people who fled their home in the area are worsening.

John Brown says most of them are taking shelter in bushes after the fled due to fear of insecurity.

Last week, authorities in Western Equatoria State said that SPLA soldiers burnt houses in Mundri West Town following clashes between them and the local youths in the area.

Commissioner Brown says the IDPs need food, shelter and medical assistance.

He told Eye Radio that urgent aid is needed.

“If there is no quick intervention start from tomorrow and next tomorrow we’re going to report dead casualties, there is no food,” he said.

“The total population suffering in the bush is 24,304; these people are suffering from rain, no shelter and hunger.”

Last week, authorities in Mundri East said five people who fled their homes starved to death.
