A report by the United Nations says a growing number of people displaced during the crisis are returning to their homes.

It says that around 227,000 people have returned so far, most in Jonglei, southern Unity, and Western Equatoria state.

But it warns of a high risk of diseases and humanitarian needs because of the rainy season.

In its weekly report, UNOCHA says these returnees remain among the most vulnerable in the country, because many of them have lost their homes, livelihoods and all their belongings.

And as such, they remain a priority for the humanitarian community.

The report says the rainy season has increased the risk of disease across the country, including respiratory, water-borne and other communicable diseases.

UNOCHA says that in displacement sites, the most commonly reported illnesses were pneumonia and other acute respiratory infections and malaria.

It also says the situation in Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile states remains tense with accounts of sporadic shooting in Nasir, Upper Nile, and clashes with youth in parts of Jonglei.

It adds that this tension is causing people to continue to flee into neighboring countries.
