Wonduruba residents divided over new states

Natives of Wonduruba are divided over which new state the area should fall under, area MP has said.

Recently, the area was disputed between the former Juba and Lainya Counties.

It was separated from the two areas and put under the leadership of the former governor of Central Equatoria State, Clement Wani Kong’a.

After the formation of the 28 states, Lainya has become part of Yei River State, while Juba is now under Jubek State.

It is unclear where Wonduruba falls.

An MP representing Lainya County, Joseph Dili Lubari, appealed to the governors of the two new states to look into the matter.

“I appeal to these two governors to look into this problem carefully before taking any action so that they may make a popular consultation with people of Wonduruba so that the majority will determine,” Hon Lubari told Eye Radio.
