The Central Equatoria State Police Commissioner says more than 1,000 soldiers have been deployed along the Juba-Yei road to maintain security.
Last week, unknown gunmen killed seven people on the road in two separate incidents.
Major General, Saed Shawul says the road is now secure for passengers to travel.
“There was a military land cruiser carrying food stuff for the soldiers in Yei. There were four soldiers in the vehicle. They were ambushed between Jebel Iraq and Ganji and they were killed. There was another car belonging to Eden Company and it had three people and they were also shot on the same road,” Maj. Gen. Shawul said.
“We have deployed forces in the area and the road is now operational. We have joint operation there; not less than 1,000 forces.”
Major General Shawul says forces have also been deployed on the road to Lainya and Wonduruba.
