Yei residents return home after a violence scare

People who fled the area due to fear of violence have started returning to their homes, the Mayor of Yei town in Central Equatoria State has said.

The residents panicked yesterday after a heavy deployment of security forces in the town.
Officials there say the forces were deployed to improve security.
Mayor Santo Paul Lasuba told Eye Radio that residents have resumed their daily activities.
“Yei is in peace and its 100% without any problem,” he assured the public.
“People have started getting back to their homes though students also ran out of the town and are now back.”
