Yei: Malaria cases rise

Author : | Published: Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Over 5,000 cases of malaria have been recorded in Yei River County since the beginning of the year, the county health department has said.

The County’s Monitoring and Evaluation officer, Lasuba Michael, says the statistics shows a drastic rise in the cases.

He says this is attributed to misuse of mosquito nets and poor environmental protection.

“We have registered 2,542 cases for children less than five years and for adults, we have registered 2,602,” he confirmed to Eye Radio.

Mr. Michael says the department has received enough anti- malarial drugs from the state ministry of health to tackle the raising number of cases.
