Farmers in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State have been urged to embark on cultivation of vegetables as an alternative source of income.

The County Assistant Commissioner for Agriculture, Edimon Taban Gogo, says the farmers should make good use of the coming dry season to cultivate vegetables in order to generate income when rains stop.

“Let our people take serious steps in vegetable production because they produce and give quicker results,” said Mr Gogo.

“We have to grow organic vegetables without the use of fertilizers and they are the best all over the world and people need them every day in all the meals, e.g., Okra”.

Most vegetables come from the neighboring countries.
