Three people have been arrested for allegedly raping under aged girls in Kajo-Keji County of Yei River state.

The Deputy Chairperson for Women Association in the County, Kiden Gloria Jackson the cases were recorded this week.

She says the men are in police custody.

“There was that student act that was sent to the county, that anyone who impregnates girls at Primary or secondary levels, as long as these girls are still under the age of 18, the person is to go for 13 years imprisonment,” said Ms. Kiden.

“But as I spoke now I have not even seen any of the case that has been taken seriously according to the education act 2015,”she said, calling on authorities in the county to take action.

Ms. Kiden says there are also many defilement cases in the counties of Yei River state that are not reported to the relevant authorities.

She called upon the state authorities to put more efforts in protection of under-aged girls in the state.
