The World Bank is set to procure a biometric payment system for the government of South Sudan, the Minister of Finance and Planning has said.

Dr Bak Barnaba Chol revealed this after the second partnership council meeting of the Multi-Donor Transition Trust Fund on Monday, October 23, when it discussed capacity-building programs in all government institutions.

The Minister of Finance says the funds are programs that enhance the provision of essential services to the people.

He added that the World Bank is helping the government in the national payment biometric system which he believed has now gone to the phase of procurement.

The World Country Manager Firas Raad expressed the Global financial institution’s continued support towards the Public Financial Management reform agenda of South Sudan’s economy.

The Multi-Donor Transition Trust Fund was established to search for donor financing to support the government’s efforts to build the capacity of its institutions and promote an enabling environment in the country for sustainable and inclusive growth.
