The leader of a women’s bloc is appealing to the government to transport the returnees fleeing the violence in Sudan to their home regions and not to Juba.

Veronica Ajak, the Executive Director of Malakal Chollo Women for Development Association also called on the government to provide shelter to the displaced civilians.

“I urge the government to help these people with shelters and camps. I am seeing people coming from Paloch to Juba, Juba already has people, settle these people to their places take them to Malakal, Kodok transport these people from this suffering,” she said.

Her remarks come after some households who were evacuated from Paloch to Juba briefly camped at the backyard of Juba International Airport. They had told Eye Radio they have no where to go.

Veronica Ajak said her organization has so far evacuated about 620 people from Khartoum to the Rabak border area.

Speaking to Eye Radio on Thursday, she appeals to South Sudanese to join the evacuation efforts.

“If we as South Sudanese join hands to help our people, the world will join us but if we do not help ourselves how will these people help us?”

Malakal Chollo Women for Development Association is a women-led charity association that provides humanitarian assistance to needy people in Upper Nile State.
