At least $400 million is needed to feed 2.5 million people in South Sudan, the World Food Program has said.

The money is meant to enhance humanitarian assistance in conflict affected areas in the country.

“What will be needed within the next six months it could be close to 400 million US dollars,” George Fominyen, WFP Communication Officer, told Eye Radio.

He said the organization is mobilizing funds from donors.

Mr. Fominyen also says WFP has begun allocating food supplies to areas that will not be accessible during the rainy season.

He says large trucks have begun delivering these items to places where food will be stored.
