The Deputy Governor of Western Bhar al-Ghazal State says the border with Warrap has now been opened after clashes between communities two days ago.

Communities in Jur River County in Western Bhar al-Ghazal fought with those in Gogrial West County in Warrap over disputed land.

A nurse working at a health unit in the border area was killed during the fighting.

Zechariah Joseph told Eye Radio that joint forces have been deployed in the area to maintain security.

“I went with forces from here and the deputy governor from there came with forces. So we formed joint forces. These joint forces are mandated to disarm any person in that area, and we also order to open the road immediately.” He said.

Zecharia says calm has returned to the area and cars are moving freely.
