The Opposition, United Democratic Salvation Front, UDSFM has denied media reports that it called for removal of the governor Warrap state and the caretaker governor of Lakes.

Yesterday, the Sudan Tribune reported that communities in Lakes state had been allegedly calling on the president to remove the care taker governor, Matur Chut Dhuol.

While in Warrap, businessmen and opposition have been calling on the president to remove the governor, Nyandeng Malek.

Zacahria Deng, UDSFM Secretary-General, says the party has only called for the removal of the Western Bahr Al Ghazal state governor, Hassan Rizik Zakaria.

“About the extension of the term of the state governor, Rizik Zacharia Hassan, we said that even the State Legislative cannot give more term to the governor without going back to the people; without going back to the political party’s stakeholders,” he stated.

“We never talked about removal of Nyandeng Malek and Acting Caretaker Governor, Matur Chut. That is not true.”

All the states extended the mandates of their governors and state assemblies following the extension of the mandate of the president and the national assembly in March this year.

However, the decision was met with strong opposition by communities in some states.
