The government in Warrap is planning to distribute grain to the population in the counties and payams at a cheaper price in a bit to address the high commodity prices in the state.
The state information minister William Wol Mayom said six trucks of grain have arrived from neighboring Sudan and more trucks are expected in the coming days.
“The governor of Warrap state received grains from the neighboring Sudan; six trucks arrived at Kwajok and we are expecting more trucks to come to Warrap,” he said.
According to Minister Wol, a kilogram of grain is currently sold at two thousand South Sudanese Pounds at Kwajok market.
But with the anticipated sale of subsidized sorghum by the government, the price could drop.
“This food will be distributed to the counties and payams of Warrap so that the prices are lowered, the current price in Warrap state particularly the Kwajok market one kilo of grain is two thousand SSP.”
However, Minister Mayom said that the state Ministry of Trade will start the distribution when enough food trucks have arrived.
“Plans are underway and very soon we will let the public how the distribution will be done and the key price for a kilo that could be subsidized the market.”
