Warrap to launch ‘Back to Learning Program’

The Ministry of Education in Warrap State says it will launch ‘Back to Learning Program’ to increase the enrollment of girls in schools.

The Minister, David Atem Atem, says the program will also encourage returnees and IDPs in the area to get access to education.

He says UNICEF and other partners will conduct trainings to people who will in turn sensitize the community on the importance of girl child education.

“We are capitalizing on that training for PTA to mobilize people outside there – talk to the parents outside there to allow their daughters mostly those coming from far villages,” Mr Atem told Eye Radio.

The current violence has negatively impacted on learning, with hundreds of thousands of children out of school across the country, particularly Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile states, according to humanitarian agencies.
