Wajuma Aweil defeated struggling Nile City Yambio 3-0 in match-week three of the South Sudan Premier League at Juba National Stadium on Saturday, leaving the latter without a point after two games.
The match began with Wajuma asserting dominance, taking an early lead in the 20th minute. A midfield free kick was tactically taken by Wajuma players with Taban Omar snatching the ball in front of Nile City’s goalkeeper to convert the chance.
After conceding, Nile City pushed hard for an equalizer, but Wajuma defense stood resolute, scattering multiple attacks.
Both sides missed chances, and the first half ended with Wajuma doubling their lead through Saber Moutawakel, who skillfully beat the defense to score from a well-timed pass.
The second half saw Nile City struggling with rushed play, resulting in numerous misplaced passes.
Meanwhile, Wajuma slowed the game’s pace, apparently conserving energy and frustrating their opponents with prolonged possession.
Nile City’s attempts to break through Wajuma defense were in vain, and the game turned into a defensive stalemate.
Two minutes before the final whistle, Saber Moutawakel sealed the victory with his second goal of the match, cutting the ball from midfield and exchanging passes with a teammate before confidently slotting it into the net.
The win earned Wajuma Aweil three points, bringing their total to four in the league. Nile City Yambio are still winless after two games, and face an uphill battle in the coming fixtures.
