South Sudan Women Leaders for Peace say that violence in the country has brought pain and that they want to bring peace.

The members of parliament met other women from Nigeria, Tanzania and Liberia in Nairobi where they shared their experience of conflict.

Alma Jervase Yak, who led the South Sudanese team, spoke to Eye Radio on her return to Juba:

“We are a group of Women Leaders for Peace; we were called by our friends from Nigeria, Tanzania, and Liberia, those who already have experience in war.

“Our message to them was that what has happened in the country has really pained us and we want to bring peace.

“We had a whole day talking with them where they explained their experiences to us and how women can play a great role to bring peace to the South”

Honorable Alma said the group would now try to find ways to implement what they had learnt in Nairobi in a bid to bring peace and stability to South Sudan.
