The Caretaker Governor of Upper Nile State has urged his people to stay united despite the creation of more states.
The president split the state into three early this month: Western Nile, Eastern Nile and Ruweng.
Gen Chol Thon says the creation of more states is not meant to divide people.
He was addressing the members of Padang community in Juba on Wednesday while celebrating the creation of Eastern Nile and Ruweng as separate states.
“As long as people are supporting this decree 100%, I’m asking people of Upper Nile to stay in peace and respect each other as people of one country,” Gen Thon said.
The celebration was under the theme: Together for peace, unity, and development.
