The government of Upper Nile state says it is returning to Malakal to help clean up the town for civilians who want to return.

The state minister of Information Phillip Jiben told Eye Radio that they will collect dead bodies from the town to avoid health risks on civil population.

“In the last incident there were many dead bodies that were still lying in the Southern part of Danger-Shofo,” Mr Jiben described.

“A lot of dead bodies were still lying on the road and the Red Cross is still collecting the bodies.”

Mr. Jiben appealed to international non-governmental organizations to help the state government in cleaning up the town.
