The British ambassador to South Sudan says that only South Sudan’s leaders can find a solution to the crisis in the country.

Ambassador Ian Hughes was speaking on Eye Radio’s Dawn Show.

‘’What I would say to them – and I know quite a few of them personally – is: you know each other very well, you grew up together, you fought the fight for the independence together, you ran this country for a number of years reasonably successfully. You can do that again but you have to reach out to each other, you have to accept that mistakes have been made, you have to accept that wrong things have been done, but it is your responsibility as the leaders of this country – those who are in Addis, those who are somewhere in Jonglei, those who are here in Juba – it’s your responsibility to fix this situation and fixing this situation can only begin if you engage properly in the negotiating process and bring hope to the people of South Sudan a hope that at the moment they don’t have,’’ he said.
