Twic East County Hospital, Jonglei, has run short of drugs due to the heavy rain that destroyed the road connecting the state capital Bor with the countyheadquarters, an official has said.
The Director for Health in Twic East County, James Magok Mabiei, says he fears the flood may lead to a disease outbreak and there will not be any drugs to treat people.
James called on the state and the national government to help reconstruct roads so that humanitarian supplies can reach people.
He said they are planning to vaccinate children against pentavalent diseases.
“We are also ready to do a campaign of immunization for every child living in a swampy area within this week through UNICEF,” he said.
He added that they are training health and hygiene promoters to help raise awareness.
Last week, the county authority said feeder roads had been destroyed by downpour.
