Authorities in Twic East County, Jonglei, say they are concerned that Care International is withdrawing its health care services in the state.

Care International is a US-based humanitarian organization providing emergency water, sanitation, hygiene services and nutrition assistance to the needy in the county.

The Commissioner of Twic East, Dau Akoi Jurkuch says the withdrawal of the aid organization is going to be challenge in the health sector of the county.

“For the last more than ten years, Care International was providing health services in Twic East. But this year, they are saying they are going to end the contract in June. That means they have pulled out from health sector. They are going to just only remain with livelihood and food security. That one will be a challenge,” said Mr Akoi.

He called upon the state government to look into the matter and find ways of closing the health gap departure of Care International will create.

Care International has been operating in south Sudan since 1993.
