The governor of Unity State says the transfer of the government headquarters from Bentiu to his home village of Mankien in Mayom County is a temporary arrangement.

The state government announced the transfer last week.

Joseph Monytuil told Eye Radio that the move is to allow the renovation of the government offices, which he says have been destroyed in the conflict.

Mr Monytuil says the renovation is expected to reach completion within one month, after which the seat of the government will be returned to Bentiu.
