The Director General of Traffic Police has confirmed one fatality across the country and several minor injuries from a road accident during this year’s Christmas day celebrations.
Major General Kon John Akot praised drivers and citizens for their commitment to road safety, urging them to continue their cooperation to ensure further improvements.
He also called on authorities to refrain from interfering with the traffic police, emphasizing the need for them to carry out their duties without hindrance.
“I would like to say that the General Traffic Police Department would like to record a voice of appreciation for the citizens for their commitment to traffic rules and laws on Christmas,” General Akot stated on state TV, SSBC on Friday.
“We have recorded one death at the state level and a small number of minor injuries resulting from motorcycle accidents,” he said.
“I appeal to those in charge not to interfere in the work of the traffic police and allow them to work.
“I appeal to the citizens to continue to abide by the traffic rules and cooperate with the traffic police personnel. We work together to reduce traffic accidents.”
