Health authorities in Tonj East County say they have recorded almost 300 cases of pneumonia in the last one week among civilians that have been displaced by floods.

Last week, pluvial floods destroyed properties and displaced hundreds of people in the county.

“Among the population who are suffering are ladies, the children and the elders,” Mr Akuecbeny, County Health Officer.

He said the patients require urgent intervention from health partners. Pneumonia is a respiratory infection that affects the lungs.
