Three killed in separate attacks in Tambura

Western Equatoria deputy governor said separate targeted attacks in Tambura County have killed and wounded civilians as a delegation formed by the state government is in the area to investigate recurrent inter-communal conflicts.

Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa said he received a report on two violent incidents in which two young men of the same family were shot dead and two others injured in Tambura yesterday.

Deputy Governor Badagbu said a security team was dispatched to get more information on the incidents.

“In the afternoon when I just arrived Ngboko information reached me that one person was shot and pierced with a several times with a knife but he did not die and that person said he knows the person who shot him and am waiting for a report from the security on that,” he told Eye Radio.

“The evening one which happened around 5 was on the road coming to Tambura town three people were shot, two died and one was taken yesterday to the hospital.”

“I have send people to bring me report of what exactly happened. Due to what on the ground we are looking at possible extension and today I will be doing public rally to speak to all the people of Tambura.”

Meanwhile, Felix John, the father of the victims, revealed that the number of deceased is now three after one of his wounded boys died in hospital.

Mr. John narrated that his three boys aged 15,16 and 17 years were shot on their way from home. He identified them as Joseph Felix, Dominic Stephen and Stephen Dokenya.

“The place we were in was in St Lawrence area and we ran to another place so they went back home to get some things we left at home, on their way back, they feel into an ambush,” he narrated.

“So three of them was killed and one of their friend ran away. One of them died in the hospital, they are as 15 years Joseph Felix, 16 years Stephen Dokenya and 17 years Dominic Joseph. Our situation here is really not good, everyone ran away and people are really tired.”

On December 1, Western Equatoria Governor Alfred Futuyo formed a 30-member committee to investigate the causes of the intercommunal conflicts in Tambura which has claimed lives.

This came after the official raised what he called grave concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the state’s most volatile area.

Mr. Badagbu said several violent incidents included attacks on community leaders, shooting at the commissioner’s residence and a security personal.
