South Sudanese without passports and living in countries without an embassy can receive traveling documents via e-mails, says the director of Immigration, Nationality and Passport.

Maduot Parek says South Sudanese in Australia who wish to travel to South Sudan, but do not have passport should write to the immigration department in Juba for clearance.

He said the same applies to countries where South Sudan has no consuls or missions.

“We’re also communicating with airline companies –  that if they recognize those who are South Sudanese, they should allow them to travel to South Sudan without any problem,” said Mr. Parek, “until when our ministry foreign affairs open consulates in those countries.”

Since 2011, those South Sudanese living in western countries like Germany and Australia have had to purchase a visa to enter the country.

The visa costs $100 – the same as foreign nationals from western countries.
