Sudanese Ambassador summoned

South Sudan has urged Sudan not to address outstanding issues between the two countries through the media.

Last week Khartoum accused Juba of supporting rebel groups such as the Justice and Equality Movement.

The spokesperson of the Ministry, Mawien Makol, says the Sudanese Ambassador, Mutriff Siddig, has been summoned and questioned about the provocative statement from the government of Sudan.

‘‘We have called the ambassador of Sudan, Dr. Mutriff Siddiq and the reason we have call him to come and Consult, to talk about escalation that has been seen between Sudan and South Sudan recently regarding the statement made by people in the government of Khartoum alleging South Sudan of supporting rebels Justice and Equality movement of Darfur.” He said.

Ambassador Siddig was questioned about the provocative statement from the government of Sudan.

He dismissed the allegation made by the Sudan’s National Intelligence chief.

“And that if South Sudan does not stop supporting them, they will pursuie the rebels up to Capitol of South Sudan, Juba.”

Ambassador Mawien said the governments of the two coubntries agreed to address outstanding issues through the mechanisms, which were established in the 2012 Cooperation Agreements signed in Addis Ababa.
