Students on government scholarships in Cairo have occupied the embassy for 21 days now.

They say they will not leave until their money is paid.

The students have been demonstrating against delayed payment of their bursaries.

“We are almost being going for 21 days today, and the situation inside is very deteriorating; we are starving. No one is supplying us with food and drinking water,” Kot Maker, the student representative said.

There are about 150 students on government scholarship in Egypt. Each receives 100 us dollars every month as pocket money.

He told Eye Radio that their situation in the embassy is deteriorating.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the Ambassador to Egypt has finished consulting with the relevant authorities on the matter.

The ambassador would be traveling back to Cairo over the weekend.
