SSRA Commissioner warns clearing agents over document forgery

The Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority has issued a strong warning to clearing agents involved in forging customs documents, stating that their licenses will be revoked immediately.

In a message to clearing agents on Tuesday, December 10, in Nimule, Simon Akuei Deng stated that fraudulent activities undermine the government’s efforts to collect revenue.

He emphasized that document forgery directly undermines government revenue collection, stating, “By forging documents, you are denying the government its revenue.”

Deng vowed to collaborate with the National Security and Customs Department to identify and take swift action against those engaged in forgery, declaring that offenders’ licenses would be revoked immediately.

“I will ask the relevant authorities to identify those involved in this illegal practice and revoke their licenses immediately,” he declared.

The Commissioner General also criticized the role of foreign middlemen in customs operations, accusing them of manipulating invoices and contributing to revenue losses. “.

“If your job is to forge and deny government revenue, then we should not give you the license and I need a report to the national security and customs department for those who are doing forgery, we will remove your license immediately,” Akuei said.

“No foreigner should be here as a middleman, because they are denying us our revenue. They are changing invoices,” he stated.
