As the inaugural South Sudan Premier League enters match-week 9, the competition is heating up with top clubs battling for supremacy while others struggle to stay afloat in the relegation zone.

Kator FC currently lead the table with an unbeaten record of six wins and two draws, accumulating 20 points and 18 goals. Their solid defensive strategy has been a key asset, as they conceded only three goals in eight games.

Trailing behind the leaders by goals difference are Jamus FC who have also scored 20 points and 14 goals. The Buffalos have a slightly weaker defense, and conceded six goals while maintaining a strong attacking record.

Koryom FC Bor follows in the third place with 19 points and nine goals, having suffered one loss. Koryom have presented themselves as contenders in the title race, albeit with a less potent attack compared to the top two teams.

Fourth-place El Merriekh Bentiu boasts the league’s highest-scoring record with 25 goals in eight games. However, defensive weakness have seen them concede 10 goals, keeping them at 18 points.

From fifth, Holy Family FC have played only seven matches but remain a formidable force with 16 points. A win in their outstanding fixture could propel them into the top four.

Meanwhile, Salaam FC Aweil find themselves in sixth place with 11 points and 10 goals, although their run of form has not been consistent.

Malakia FC are seven, having been unlucky in front of the goal despite defensive stability that conceded just seven goals. This followed by Bentiu City (8), Wajuma (9), Lion Hunters (10) and Young Stars (11).

In the relegation zone, Al Hilal FC have managed to secure just four points from seven games, with a weak defensive record of 14 goals conceded. Olympics FC have four points and scored the fewest goals (4) in eight games.

Nile City FC, sitting at the bottom of the table, remains winless with seven losses. Their defense has been the weakest in the league, conceding 28 goals, with a goal difference of -24, making them the most likely team to face relegation.

El Merriekh Bentiu have the best attack so far with 25 goals while Kator is credited with a formidable defense, conceding only three goals.

Nile City FC have worst defense with 28 goals conceded, while Olympics FC have the worst attack with 4 goals scored so far.
