SSPL: Holy Family grab dramatic late win over Al Hilal Wau

At Juba National Stadium, Holy Family secured a last-minute victory against Al Hilal Wau, in Bahr el Ghazal derby on Thursday. The lose marked Al Hilal’s fourth consecutive defeat in the South Sudan Premier League.

Despite Al Hilal’s improved performance, the decisive goal from Holy Family in the dying minutes sealed the match.

Al Hilal coach John Alier tactically contained Holy Family, focusing on strong marking and disrupting their midfield play.

Utilized quick counterattacks, exploiting Al Hilal’s defensive errors, with Nhial Agany scoring the opener at 20 minutes after a well-placed cross from Mario.

Al Hilal struggled with defensive cohesion, particularly between central defenders Marwan and Awad, leading to vulnerability against Holy Family’s rapid transitions. Akot Akot equalized with a powerful header from a corner kick, at 61 minutes showcasing their set-piece strength despite defensive lapses.

In the final moments, Holy Family capitalized on Al Hilal’s in 90+4 minutes, disorganized defense, scoring the winning goal and claiming all three points.

The thrilling match highlighted tactical shifts and individual brilliance but underscored Al Hilal’s ongoing defensive challenges.

Holy Family now have now 18 point in 7 position while Al Hilal remains with fourth points in 12 position.
