There have been fresh clashes between government forces and the SPLA- in Opposition forces in Rubkona County, Unity State, this morning, the SPLA spokesperson has said.

“We were informed that Bentiu was attacked particularly Rubkona, but because Rubkona is part of Bentiu we are expecting report from there shortly,” said Colonel Philip Aguer.

No casualties have been reported.

However, the Military Spokesperson of the SPLA in Opposition forces, Brigadier-General, Lul Ruai Koang, says there have been fighting going on in Unity State this morning, but it has stopped.

He says they are fighting in self-defense, because the government forces wanted to go out of the areas under their control in order to gain more areas.

On Monday, President Salva Kiir accused the SPLA- in Opposition forces of violating the ceasefire agreement, which the opposition denies.

The President also warned that more attacks by the SPLA in Opposition forces were expected.
