The SPLM in Opposition has called for calm after reports that one of its officers has been killed in Juba.

The military spokesman of the opposition forces, Colonel William Gatjath, says their police officer, Lt.Col. George Alex Sandra, was shot dead in Kator over the weekend.

Col. Gatjath told Eye Radio that people should not panic but instead rally in support of the peace agreement.

“I need the people of South Sudan to remain calm and to ratify the peace agreement, even if here are worsening things happening,” he said.

When contacted on the matter, the Minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth, referred the matter to the SPLA.

The SPLA spokesperson, Brigadier Lul Ruai Koang, told Eye Radio that he was still gathering information on the killing.
