The SPLA has begun assessing areas to move the army 25 kilometers outside Juba.

According to General Malong, the demilitarization of Juba will begin once the new locations are approved by the general command. He said the army will seek permission to use the land from the Central Equatoria state government.

The assessment of the new army bases was done along the Juba-Bor road, Juba-Torit road and the Juba-Nimule road.

One of the areas that has been identified is Kit- 1 (One) along Juba – Nimule road. The area is 25 kilometers from Juba.

Today, the team will move to the roads along Juba – Kajokeji, Juba – Yei, Juba – Maridi and Juba – Terekeka.

According to the agreement signed by the warring parties, all military forces within Juba must be redeployed outside a radius of 25 kilometers.

This is to be done 30 days after the signing of the agreement and completed after ninety 90 days.
