The army says four soldiers and a woman have been arrested in connection with last night shooting in Juba.

There were gunshots at New Site suburb last night.

The Army spokesperson, Colonel Philip Aguer, says the shooting started when a drunken soldier set his hut on fire following a quarrel with his wife.

Aguer said the drunken soldier fired bullets randomly in air to scare the people in the neighborhood.

“After smelling the smoke he started shooting into the air and the wife ran away,” explained Col Aguer.

“Then some of the drunken soldiers who are in the same area of New Site who were guarding the SPLA stores started responding to that shooting.

This is a second security incident involving soldiers.

On Monday, Colonel Aguer said 11 armed men were also arrested. Amongst them were five soldiers.

They were arrested in connection with shooting at night.
