A leading female journalist is calling for a greater protection from the police, especially in the absence of any media laws in the country. The Editor-in-Chief of SHE Magazine South Sudan is Rachel Alek Aguer. She is keen for the police to protect journalists in their work:

The Inspector General of Police General Pieng Deng told Eye Radio that the media also needs to be responsible and report a more balanced view of the country. The media bill is still in draft form in the national assembly despite the President himself calling for it to be passed by parliament.
