Security forces shot dead suspected burglar in Nzara County

A suspected robber was shot dead by security forces in Nzara County, of Western Equatoria State earlier on Sunday, January 1.

The commissioner Nzara County said the victim identified as 21-year-old Yasser Justin Buga was caught with his friends while attempting to break into a shop at a local market.

Commissioner Zizi Richard said the young man was gunned down when he disobeyed police orders and decided to run.

“Two young men went and entered one kiosk at At-Labara. Because they were celebrating the New Year, so they were caught and one of them escaped,’ Zizi narrated.

Speaking to Eye Radio on Sunday, the official said the deceased was shot in his stomach and legs and died on the spot.

“The last one tried to escape and was shot between his leg and the stomach (abdomen) and he died at the same time. The decease’s name is Yasser Justine Buga, a 21-year-old year young man.”

Robbery incidents have been reported in Juba before the Christmas and New Year festivals.

On December 15th, 2016, President Kiir issued an order commanding the National Police Service to shoot any criminal resisting the arrest.
