Relevant security agencies have been deployed to track the flow of foreign hard currency auctioned by the Central Bank weekly, says the government .

The Council of Ministers on Wednesday expressed concerns over continued massive demand of hard currency by the public at Forex bureaus.

The Minister of Information, Micheal Makuei said the hard currencies; especially the US dollar is not being used on the needs of the country, making the black market strong.

“The issue of the dollar which is auctioned every week does not go to the people. They are bought but they are not visible in the market. You might have seen a lot of queues,” said Mr. Makuei.

“So, the security organs are directed to follow up; where does this money go?”

Mr. Makuei also said the Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to establish cooperative societies to control the supply of food commodities within the market.
