Authorities in Lakes State say schools in the area where a paramount chief was killed early this month remain closed due to fear of insecurity.
The State Minister of Education, Dut Makoi, says there is fear amongst the teachers and pupils.
He says the schools could not resume because people fear revenge killing.
“Still there is fear amongst people,” said Mr Makoi. “In addition to that, teachers also did not come to schools because they also fear.”
Last week, the National Legislative Assembly reported that more than five-hundred people were killed over the last three months in four counties of Lakes State.
Paramount chief Aperer Chut Dhuol was attacked and killed in his house by unidentified gunman, an incident officials there attributed to rampant retaliatory killings in the state.
