There is an on going high level technical committee meeting  in Juba to help South Sudan support its membership for the Eastern Africa Community.

The meeting which started on Monday will go on for five days.

The session is to prepare South Sudan on how to negotiate the process of joining the East Africa Community bloc.

The Director General of the Cabinet Resolution and Information Communication Technology at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs says South Sudan has a political will to join the East African Community.

Salah Liwa Agili says the country cannot join the East African Community without having undergone proper training.

“So we are preparing the way so that we know the inner part of it so that we can negotiate and come up with something. After the technical training, then the negotiation will start. Actually they want the negotiation to go ahead, but without us being trained what we are going to negotiate on, it will not be possible.” She said.

Members of the committees who are attending the training have been selected from all the national ministries in the country.
