Royal Honoring of President Kiir underway

The King of Chollo, His Majesty Räth Kwongo Dak Padiet is set to honor President Salva Kiir “for his efforts to restore lasting peace” in the country.

The royal honoring event at Dr. John Garang Mausoleum kicked off early on Saturday morning with culturally-styled celebrations.

Young people dressed in the Chollo traditional attires performed traditional songs and dances at the event that is under the theme: “Peace and Stability in the Chollo Kingdom”.

Cultural groups from different ethnicities across the country were also in attendance.

President Kiir, some of his deputies, as well as other officials have arrived at the Mausoleum ahead of the celebration, with his honoring by King Kwongo expected to take place shortly.

Previously, the King had said the event is about the importance of reconciliation, healing, peace and social harmony among the people of South Sudan.
