The Political Parties Council says only six parties have presented their documents for registration as the deadline ends tomorrow.
Those that have submitted include the ruling party, the SPLM, and the opposition party, the SPLM-DC.
The acting secretary, Peter Moranyar, told Eye Radio that all the parties were given 90 days since October to submit their documents.
“If these documents are in order, then we will proceed to register party and if they do not conform to the Political Parties’ Act, then the registration cannot take place,” Mr Moranyar said.
Mr Moranyar says parties that will fail to submit their documents tomorrow will be considered as new parties.
This means they will start collecting signatures of their supporters from the states so that they can be registered.
There are over 20 political parties in the country. It’s unclear why majority of them haven’t submitted their documents.
