Red Cross embarks on fight against Cholera

The South Sudan Red Cross says it has trained over 450 volunteers to help raise public awareness about Cholera.

Red Cross’ Veronica Kenyi told Eye Radio they plan to train more volunteers.

The volunteers cover areas of Gudele, Gurey and Lologo.

She said they will be ready to help the communities if there are any outbreaks in the country.

“We’ll also develop a three-month plan whereby we will include outside Juba to train more volunteers to be on standby incase of any outbreak,” she said

The areas include Gumbo, Bor, Yei, Malakal, Wau Shilluk, Renk, Lainya, Terekaka, Mangala, Waat, Awerial, Magwi, Nimule and Torit.

Veronica Kenyi says the teams that have been trained have a plan to help conduct awareness camping on cholera in the community.
