The acting spokesperson of the United Nations Missions in South Sudan says investigations into a shooting around the UNMISS compound in Tong Piny on Friday afternoon are going on.
On Friday, sporadic shootings were heard around the Thong Piny UNMISS protection site, where thousands of IDPs are being sheltered.
Joseph Contreras said that there were no casualties:
More than 85,000 people are seeking protection at the eight UNMISS bases across the country.
In January, the Inspector General of Police, Pieng Deng, told Eye Radio that the police service will collaborate with UN police to provide patrols within residential areas in Juba in an attempt to persuade the IDPs to return home.
