The Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) has called on South Sudanese to open their hearts to peace and hope for a new year free from suffering and hopelessness caused by economic crisis and rampant insecurity.
In his Christmas message on Monday, Primate Justine Badi pointed out that the year 2024 brought immense suffering and hopelessness to many people.
“During 2024, we have observed our deeply troubled and divided world and hoped for the beginning of an end to the massive conflicts and sufferings that have enveloped it,” he said.
“Instead, we find ourselves in a place of great uncertainty and hopelessness with serious economic challenges and rampant insecurity in our country.”
The religious leader appealed to all believers to unite and turn to God during this festival season.
Primate Badi encourages Christians to celebrate the birth of Christ with a focus on the importance and power of stable families and a united country.
“In all this, the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day brings New Hope to humanity. It prompts us to praise the Lord at all times and live our mindset from the Earthly to a Heavenly perspective. Let us all celebrate.”
“This Christmas by opening our hearts, for the Prince of Peace to dwell amongst us and allow his presence in our lives, in our community, and in our society.”
