Presidential advisor for peace Reath Malual passes on

The Presidential Advisor for Peace, David Reath Malual Lath has passed away on Monday in Juba after an asthma attack, official sources have revealed.

According to a press statement by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar, the late official became ill while reviewing the resolutions of the Lou Nuer Peace Conference.

He died minutes after being rushed to the Promise Hospital while being attended to by doctors, the statement of condolence says.

“Late David Reath Malual was a hero of the liberation struggle for self-determination for the independence of South Sudan,” says Machar.

“On behalf of the entire movement and the people of South Sudan, I am conveying condolences to his family, relatives and friends.”

Malual was appointed by President Salva Kiir in March last year, as a presidential advisor after being recommended by the SPLM-IO.
